Our school, Taiji in Chicago, offers a few more free, in-person classes and we start a Beginner Series Jan 14, this Sunday. You can join by Jan 28th. See below! Save the date for a Year of the Dragon, Lunar New Year party on Feb 3rd that is also a fundraiser for our non-profit arts group, APIDA Arts. All proceeds go to fund our 2024 free arts festival for Asian, Pacific Island, Desi/South Asian American artists. Also, it's my dang birthday party! Yes, I am indeed leveraging the fact that it's my birthday week to guilt y'all into buying tickets to a fundraiser for the arts group that I founded.  Tickets are $35 for adults, $20 for kids 5-17 years old, and free for 5 and under. I'm teaching yoga from 4-5pm, then from 5-8pm there's complimentary food, adult drinks, vision board making, and DANCING! It is, after all, my birthday party! You can also donate any amount to APIDA Arts, as well. Thanks so much and have a safe, grounded January.   Free Intro to Taiji / TaiChi Classes Taiji Beginner Series January 14 - April 6 I co-run the school, Taiji in Chicago, in the system of Patrick Kelly. This system is an intelligent synthesis of highly developed physical, energetic, and spiritual practices that prioritizes internal development. You have a few opportunities left to take free classes with us this week and ask lots of questions. This is the most refined and complete system of internal development that I've practiced. Yoga at Chicago Botanic Garden Your class free includes entrance to the beautiful Gardens Candlelight Sunset Yoga Nidra The Chicago Botanical Garden hosts me again from January to May, 2024/ I love teaching here! It's a a wonderful resource and I love enjoying walking around the gardens before I teach. Join us! Your class fee includes free paring by the learning center and admission to the entire garden. I teach a lovely Candlelight Sunset Yoga Nidra class. No experience needed to practice "yoga sleep" lying down or sitting up. Free Recordings of Shaikh Abdullah Isa Neil Dougan Our taiji teacher is Patrick Kelly, who had three teachers. One of Patrick's teachers was a highly developed Sufi instructor, Shaikh Abdullah Isa Neil Dougan. Patrick studied with him for many years in New Zealand, where Abdullah hosted weekly meetings. Some of those meetings were recorded and are available for free listening, but most are in rough shape and are hard to hear. Recently, Abdullah's lectures have been consolidated into longer tracks and have been mastered for better audio quality. Feel free to listen to or download Abdullah's recordings to learn where some of our internal development methods originated from.
